Michaella has done research work in a number of fields. At the beginning of her post graduate work in engineering she developed an image processing algorithm to automatically detect and track eyes in video sequences. For her doctorate in electrical engineering at UCT she developed a system that automatically recognises a number of human poses and actions using negative space analysis. She has worked with the CSIR on developing technologies to benefit people who are disabled. Recently she joined the Central University of Technology (CUT) as a post doctorate fellow to work on creating custom implants and prostheses using additive fabrication (rapid prototyping) methods. |
